The story of the crazy madmen Engineer Zafar Wattoo

The story of the crazy madmen Engineer Zafar Wattoo March 23, 2022 was a historic day for the 100 dam project when a national organization like ISPR warmly acknowledged its usefulness and importance and invited me to the Pride of Pakistan as a designer with the ability of the leader of a team.

Fourteen years ago today, when the dreamers of this project dreamed of launching it, in the objective conditions of Balochistan, it was considered as an unworkable project. The capacity of Balochistan Irrigation Department was also questioned and any foreign aid agency had apologized for not funding it.

However, the federal government of Pakistan intended to build it with its own resources and instead of the initially proposed 200 dams, it undertook the construction of half, that is, only Hundred in count dams. However, when the project started in 2008, the ground conditions had changed and the law and order situation had deteriorated, but the zeal of the lunatics and madmen prevailed and gradually small lakes full of life began to appear in the deserts.

From the deserts of Balochistan. In the last decade's journey to become the beloved ISPR and BBC's top story, many anonymous heroes have narrated stories of passion, determination and dedication. Even a bricklayer in this project is a hero of this nation but 100 dams would not have become a dream if Imran Durrani, Wasim Asghar, Nasir Majeed, Mir Azhar Jabbar, Kamran Babar, Fayyaz ul Haq, Jahangir Jaffer, Ibrahim Mengal, Muhammad The field staff of Nadeem, Zeeshan Shehzad and many other valuable engineers and contractors like them.

Officers from the Provincial Planning Department and the Planning Commission of Pakistan are equally involved in making this great project a success. Many other useful projects have been launched to secure Pakistan's waters, on which anonymous heroes spend their lives on a daily basis, leaving behind a chain of rest and many times risking their lives for the sake of fame and greed for wealth.

But because of the benefits of these schemes or such crazy people are not visible at the national level, while the social, electronic and print media is full of sensational breaking headlines. The 100 Dam project was fortunate in that it received significant acclaim from an organization like ISPR and its effects were covered in a video which appeared on DG ISPR's website on 22 March. This story of madmen and madmen is still available on the ISPR website and the entire ISPR team deserves credit for it.
