According to Donald Lou, being an Asian American, many people consider him a Chinese citizen but they do not know Chinese at all.
Although Donald Lowe holds a bachelor's and master's degree in international relations from Princeton, one of the best American universities, he failed when he first applied for the State Department.
Being from an Asian-American minority, he was given concessional numbers to interview but refused to do so and volunteered for the peacekeeping force in the African country of Sierra Leone.
Donald Low joined the US State Department as an intern and later received a commission.
Donald Lou also served as a political officer at the US Consulate in Peshawar, Pakistan, from 1992 to 1994. Interestingly, his first meeting with his wife Ariel was in Peshawar, where she was working as an ad worker.
Donald Lowe has twice held diplomatic missions in India due to which he understands both Urdu and Hindi and is well aware of the political situation in the region.
